57Chevy - "440 Six Pack"

(self released, 2003)

57Chevy is a new act from the Netherlands. 440 Six Pack is their self released EP including 6 tracks in a duration of 4.40 for each one. Roland on guitars and vocals, Robert on bass and Raymond on drums.
There isn't even one band from The Netherlands that sounds typical. How could 57Chevy sound typical? I can detect some influences from Candybar Planet but that's not necessary a negative point. As "Slogan Man" begins, melodic vocals and clever riffs fill the room. "Diemansion" is the second one, more rhythmical and heavier. The instrumental "Pal(e)" starts in a psychedelic intro and continues as the guitar riffs hold the rhythm. The fourth one is "The Tyger", which I can say that doesn't match with to other songs at all. Weird vocals by Tobias. By the way it is a free cover on the self-titled William Blake's poem. "Six Pack" sounds mostly like a typical but nice heavy rock song. The last one is "Last Lust Lost" -the second instrumental- which filled me with an emotion that my soul was lost in nowhere.
Nice ideas, nice playing and nice music. I suppose that the final result would be better with a different touch in the production. But, the rate is still high!
