The swedish City of Orebro is rapidly becoming a heavy rock Mecca. Established bands like Witchcraft, Truckfighters, Burning Saviours and Firestone have inspired others to join the underground movement and Bombshelter Studios (propelled by Truckfighters personel) is a good, or rather perfect way for new interesting bands to get a demo out.

Asteroid, with their mix of 70s doom and contemporary stoner rock with fine melodic vocals and slight prog influences have really caught the interest of many heavy rock fans world wide. Last years demo together with the four songs on this one have really boosted my interest in this three-piece. All the needed ingredients are present in their music...fuzzy thundering bass, fat heavy hooks and that sweet ''can't-remain-in-seated-position'' type grooves. A big plus is that Asteroid handle calm parts transforming into riff storms close to perfectly and the songs, especialy ''2029 A.D'' and ''On The Planet'', have a great flow in them. As mentioned above, the early swedish prog guitar work here and there, adds to the interesting overall sound.

Recently, Fuzzorama Records (owned and propelled by Truckfighters personel) signed a deal with Asteroid and BlowBack for a split planned to be released early next year. Rumours say both bands have killer material and I'm sure that split will blow our speakers. To verify that I shit you not, feel free to check out Asteroid (and BlowBack) in Monolith’s Downloads section or download both Asteroid demos from their site.
