Dawn Of Winter - "Slow Is The Suffering"

(iron glory recs 2001)

I guess that the value of Dawn of Winter is well known to all of you. It's also known the devotion of these four guys to doom metal and to metal in general, via their other projects and groups. This release is the successor of their debut masterpiece "In the valley of tears". Once again released by their own record company, since none profit targeting record company would like to release such music, they show the way, the simple way of doom metal expression. "Slow is the suffering" is a great EP that contains three wonderful doom metal tracks. Their sound is familiar to us all. Doom metal as the ancestors of this music have shown. "Titus Vanis" is a dedication to a group that has offered so much to doom metal, St. Vitus, while the two others (the self-titled and "Thirty and miserable") are the typical Dawn of Winter tracks. The sound production is very qualitative, but above all stands the magnificent cover. In its simplicity is the pictorial epitome of doom metal. I thank God that these bands do not disappoint us in the way that other bands have done in the past. It would be a dream to watch them live, but until that moment, which may never come, we have the honor to possess their work. The limited nature if this release may be an obstacle to buy it, but when you trace it don even think about it.
