Liquidust - "Demo"

(self released, 2004)

I’ve seen Liquidust playing live a couple of times. They seemed like a good heavy rock band with a gifted female singer, nothing too special though. So I wasn’t expecting too much out of this CD.
Once again, I was dead wrong. These youngsters did an amazing job in the studio, resulting first of all in a top notch production. Mad props for the crystal clear sound that compliments the songs and leaves space for Tania’s voice to shine in all its magnitude. Liquidust play hard rock of the 70’s variety, with a solid rhythm section, guitars on fire constantly and a lady on the mic with more balls than the whole nu-metal scene combined (OK, that’s not much of an accomplishment, I know).
Demo kicks off with "Just Dead" which shows what Liquidust got from the 1st note, as it enters so heavily. Wah wah leading the way till Tania enters the picture and leaves you searching for your jaw. Closer match I can find for their sound is the mighty Acid King and their doomy rock dynamites. Up next is "D" (stands for Mr Lu Cifer). Great guitar work, with riffs gallore and constant tempo changes. Guitars steal part of the show in "Manipulation" as well, from fuzz madness to an insane solo. Finally, "Get It" is a grungier rocker with a driving bass tone. I love the double growly vocals on the chorus and of course the drum explosive parts.
These four stellar compositions caught me by a surprise, I got to admit. Local lovers of the heavy, keep your eyes open for their next gig. Till then contact the band at the addy below. Prepare to be blown away.
