Although I am pretty much sure that if you mention bands like Set Fire
To Flames, Red Sparowes, Pelican, (Secret Order Of) Tusk and the likes
all the Misuse members will look at you like you 're speaking the martian
language, this band is somewhat playing a breed along those lines.
On the other hand I am also pretty much sure that almost every member
will accept the Tool influence and furthermore will be really happy to
hear that. You can easily make a band sigh in ecstasy if you drop some
words like – "I can hear some Tool in your music". But oh well,
I won't go raving about this band again and I know that many of you out
there will dispute this fact but you are wrong and I am right. Period.
So, what we have here is instrumental heavy post-rock with some metal
guitar riffs thrown in the mix (A second guitar is recently added to the
line-up and there are thoughts for a third one - I say GO for it). Furious
and exact drumming that just gets a little too carried away at parts although
you can easily hear that it’s the leading part among them all. By that
I mean that momentum is a good thing but you have to be strong to tame
it… they are really great on the hard parts and really mellow on the atmospheric
ones, its just that, maybe, they need to work a bit more on their compositions.
Tracks with length more that 10 minutes can be a little 'frustrating'
for those who are not trained enough, but on the other hand who cares
for them, right? And don’t get me wrong here, that's exactly my kind of
thing and I'm just loving it. Even made it in my playlist for this month.
It’s just that I foresee great potential in this band and from now on
I will be very strict in my judgement. Nothing is buried in the final
result and the overall sound is just right. Stories without words are
there, all you need to catch them is the right ears and feelings. May
the force be with you.
This new wave of Greek bands that became known to us through the Spinalonga
compilation can only make us be very optimistic about things to come.
One can almost remember the future!
