WOW! This demo came out of nowhere and outblew almost everything I’ve been listening. It’s for sure the surprise of the year.
Slaying riffs like the one that starts at about 4.20” into “Barn Burner”, grab you and will not get out of your head. Dirty lyrics, telling little stories about killing or love troubles that would make the finest old bluesmen feel proud of these boys. The additive voice gives a very personal vibe to Mongrel. Probably the main reason that the band reminds me of the seminal and greatly missed Drag Pack. That or the instant impact both bands had on me upon first listen. All songs have a strange catchy feel but Mongrel are not afraid to drag them as far as they want showing what underground heavy music is really made of.
Add the intense, raw form that a self-produced demo would be presented and you’ll get the picture.
I’ll be seriously surprised if Mongrel are not already offered a contract from at least every label of our stoner little world. In the meantime all you have to do to obtrain this cd is to get in touch with the band. Do it now.
