One of the better bands to emerge out of this new breed of local heavy
rock bands, Planet Of Zeus surprised us pleasantly when during their last
show, they gave away free copies of this promotional 2-tracker.
Planet Of Zeus are a powerful trio that oozes heaviness in every step
they take with sludgy guitars, smooth basslines, energetic as hatefuck
drumming and loose lyrics, throated rather than sang by Babis. "Nervous
Breakdown" is already known as the opener in the 2nd volume of the
"In The Junkyard" series. The band lights up and breaks into
some thundering chords and groove that will rock you silly every time.
It’s the other song of this promo CD though that brings more to the table.
"Space Loop 430" shows that PoZ have the chops necessary to
be a hell of a lot more that just the Greek Alabama Thunder Pussy. An
organic brain-melter of a song that can combine the evil ways of Electric
Wizard with the intergalactic journeys of Sons Of Otis, before breaking
into a marching doomy assault towards the end. An amazing slab of space
metal that’s what it is.
Checking them out on one of their live shows should be on your “what to
do next” list. These guys are such a cohesive unit on stage. Till then,
send a note to planetofzeus2004@yahoo.gr and kindly ask for a copy.
