| Shattered Nothing - "Shattered Nothing" |
| (self released, 2001) |
I always wanted a Hellenic group, that could combine his 80’s influences
(Candlemass, Pentagram) with the classic doom sound of the present decade.
The group, which manages that in a satisfactory level, is called Shattered
Nothing. Although the production is not the best of all times, the three
guys from Volos (province makes miracles sometimes), accomplish to fill
their debut demo cd with mournful anthems. It's very positive that vocals
have a particular tinge (though it needs attention in the accent) and
do not remind another singer. It is also noteworthy, that the vocals are
drummer’s work (it is known that singing and drumming isn’t the easiest
combination for a band). The guitar sounds very good, rhythm enough in
some parts and melodic in some others. The bass guitar is heard faintly
in most tracks, but it's positive that it doesn’t follow the riffing (it
would sounded as a milange between instruments) but it follows – in parts
– the drums. p.s. The lyrics are influenced by Voivod!!! |
