Truckfighters / Square - Split 7''

(fuzzorama, 2005)

Here we have a very cool project involving two skilled bands from Sweden. Truckfighters don't need any introduction by now. The release of "Gravity X" earlier this year together with intense touring has placed these guys at the very top of today’s stoner rock scene. On this split 7'' they meet Square, an ultra cool seven men strong band playing what Fuzzorama Records describe as "speed-garage-ska-fuzz". This band is guaranteed to make your smile a mile wide. Like a Manu Chao on cocaine meeting Madness on steroids you get high tempo, groovy catchy riffs and an innovative brass section that play like being imported straight from Tijuana. Tight as hell, this band is pure party (please check back next update for a review of their full length album).
What makes this little treasure of a vinyl interesting besides it being pressed in only 300 copies is the somewhat genius move for these two bands to cover eachothers songs. Sure that's nothing new, but now we're talking two bands including very skilled musicians. Square assault Truckfighter's "Mexico!" (from their demo "Desert Cruiser") and "Helium 28" (from the split with Firestone). They strip both versions of their traditional fuzzrock costumes and dress them in their awesome acid mariachi outfits. Full throttle versions, perfect for your patio fiesta!
Truckfighters interpret Square's "Frizzy Man, parts 1 & 2" (from their album "Organic Square") dipping it in their patented, warm and fuzzy sound.
It seems to me the Truckfighters have passed a point where nothing can go wrong. Everything they touch is highly enjoyable and if they keep this up I predict there will be tons of bands in a year or two trying to sound like the Truckfighters. FUZZ!!!
