Underwater Moon - "Forgotten Serenades"

(self financed, 2002)

Underwater Moon is a Greek metal band that is working hard and this thing is exhibited constantly. This is their first effort, as far as I know, and it’s a collection of live songs from various appearances. In every aspect this is a noteworthy release, because the guys are eager to offer an adequate sample of their capabilities.
This is a promotional CD of over an hour total duration. I have already reviewed their debut studio release and there is not much more to say about them. This is released previously than their "Wondering..." demo CD, so the band has already moved to a direction that improved their sound. However, it is showing what the band can do on stage, and comparably to their studio performance they are doing really good; perhaps even better than the studio. We had detected some problems, concerning their "binding" as a band and –strangely- they aren't visible this time. Their combination of doom/heavy metal with many power metal elements is appropriate for gigs and it has an interest. The strange thing is the audience’s feedback, which isn’t even heard. I guess the recording has played an important role on this matter and I hope that there were some warm reactions to their music.
Most of the songs are from the "Wondering…" demo CD and as in every live appearance there are the necessary cover. One of them is the Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game" and a small Black Sabbath medley ("Paranoid", "Heaven And Hell"). I believe that, if they work more, we are going to listen to much better things in the future from Underwater Moon's camp.
